15 days escorted tour in Northern Greece
Description
Two weeks to enjoy birding in all the important birding areas in Northern Greece.
Starting at Thessaloniki, we will visit the very interesting wetlands of Gallikos, Axios and Loudias Delta and Kalochori lagoon on the west of the city. Next on the program is the area of Prespa lakes where we will stay for 3 nights. The area of Prespa is beautiful all year round, and in two full days plus one morning and an afternoon we will be able to visit all interesting birding sites and revisit the best ones.
We will then travel to the East, and we will stay near Nestos river for the next 4 nights. Based just minutes away form Nestos River gorge, we will make day trips to Evros Delta and Dadia, Porto Lagos and Vistonis, Nestos Delta.
We will then head back west, to Lake Kerkini. For the next 4 days we will enjoy birding around and in the lake, as well as the nearby mountains. Lake Kerkini is an excellent birding location and one of Europe's most important wetland. From Kerkini we will return to Thessaloniki for a last visit at the wetlands near the city.
